I have to give a warning: this chapter contains graphic descriptions of an act of torture essential to the plotline and is in no way meant to be gratuitous or misogynistic. I did cut some overkill details for the sake of some taste, but this chapter is not for the faint of heart. This is probably one of the hardest chapters to write because it is coming near the end where I wanted to formally wrap things up. This chapter also contains the history of Mazn'reysla and how he came to where he is today. Maz has become my signature drow character and I was rather proud of his time in this chapter.

The torture scene was originally a bit longer, though I trimmed it down from the original draft because I thought people would get too squeamish and some of my previous reviewers did find this scene a little too disturbing. So if it was a bit rushed, it was because I was avoiding completely freaking people out.
I am currently working on a short piece fully telling the story of Mazn'reysla's first encounter with Vhaeraun that I plan to put up here. After doing all my research for this piece, I became a complete blashphemer: I personally prefer Vhaeraun over Lolth. You'll see what I mean in the next chapter.
